Getting started with cloth diapers
A guide to finding the right cloth diaper
In this guide, we will cover everything you need to know to get started with cloth diapers for your newborn baby.
Customize the diaper for your child
Our cloth diapers for newborns are designed with love for the tiniest ones, using materials that are gentle on both babies and the environment. We've also considered new parents and aimed to make it easy to make a good choice. Modern cloth diapers are no more complicated than disposable diapers; the difference is that they are washed and reused.
The diapers can be easily adjusted using buttons to ensure a perfect fit for your baby.
How do you change a diaper?
Before putting on the diaper, adjust the height by fastening the front buttons, which determine the leg space. A good guideline when fastening the diaper around the waist is that you should be able to fit two fingers between the diaper and the baby. On very small babies, the top two buttons can be left unfastened, and it's okay if the diaper is fastened asymmetrically. The important thing is to ensure comfort and a snug fit for the baby.

Newborn / All-in-one diaper has an inner lining that is extra gentle and removes moisture from the baby's skin. For babies who urinate a lot, the included cloth insert is used to be placed in the diaper for extra absorption
What do you need to have at home?
Below are some tips on what is good to have available during diaper changes. Whether you only want to use cloth diapers or combine them with disposable diapers is up to you; there are no right or wrong choices. The number of cloth diapers you need depends on how often you want and can wash them. It's a good idea to anticipate using a lot of diapers during the first period and to remember that a newborn's skin is extra sensitive.
A useful guideline is to change the diaper after the baby has eaten, roughly every three hours. Dirty diapers should be changed as soon as possible.

Cloth Diapers
If you're considering using cloth diapers for your child full-time, we recommend getting at least 24 pieces. This way, you can use 6 diapers per day and wash them every three days.
- 3 for a starter or 24 for full-time
-
Washcloths
Fabric washcloths are a perfect complement to cloth diapers. Moisten with lukewarm water and vegetable oil for a smooth diaper change (or just oil if the child tends to get dry). Used washcloths are stored and washed together with cloth diapers.
- 5 for a starter or 20-30 for full-time.
-
Storage
For pre-wash storage, we recommend wet bags or mesh bags. Wet bags provide waterproof storage that keeps odors at bay and come in sizes suitable for laundry baskets or diaper bags.
- 1 medium wet bag to start or 2 large ones for full-time
-
Mesh bag
Open the drawstring and place the entire bag in the washing machine, allowing it to empty itself in the machine. Ideally, store the mesh laundry bag in a large wet bag for a waterproof and odor-free storage solution.

Wash and store cloth diapers
Since newborns do not consume solid food, their stool is water-soluble and can be rinsed off in the washing machine's rinse cycle.
Wash at 60°C and preferably use a high water level. Use the gentle detergent you use for the rest of the baby's laundry.
