The pocket nappy is one of the simplest kinds of cloth nappy — it goes on much like a disposable, but you wash it and reuse it again and again. That very simplicity makes it a favourite at home, with babysitters and at preschool. Here we walk through how it works.
How does a pocket nappy work?
The pocket nappy has a pocket on the inside where you tuck an absorbent insert — one or two, depending on how much needs soaking up. Because the insert is already in place, the nappy is ready to put on straight away, just like a disposable: open, change, close.
You adjust the size with snaps at the front, so the same nappy stays with you through almost the whole nappy changing period — you never need to buy a new size. At each change you take out the insert (it's kinder to the elastics) and wash the whole nappy. If you've used a disposable insert, you simply throw it away.
The inside keeps skin dry
On the inside, our pocket nappies have a stay-dry fabric that wicks moisture away, so your child feels dry even for a while after the nappy has been filled. The materials are chosen with care and certified to OEKO-Tex Standard 100 — gentle on sensitive skin.
